Motorcycle Speakers

Want to listen to music or the audio prompts of your GPS while riding?

Speakers mounted on your motorcycle may be a good idea when you're parked up and showing off, but when you're driving at speed with a full face helmet on it is unlikely you will be able to hear them. Fortunately there are motorcycle speakers which are specifically designed to go inside your motorcycle helmet comfortably and provide clear audio while riding. Take a look at our speakers helmet page.

Pro's and Con's of Motorcycle Speakers

Luxury touring bikes like the Honda Goldwing and BMW K 1200 LT generally have motorcycle speakers built in, often at the front and the back to accommodate both the driver and pillion rider. Speakers suit these bikes as they have large screens which provide significant protection from wind noise so that the sound from the speakers is not entirely lost while riding. However on motorcycles with less wind protection, or louder exhaust systems speakers built into the motorcycle will not work so well.

Essentially the advantage of having speakers built into your bike is the convenience, its just like a car, no messing with wires every time you go for a ride. No watching out for cables when you take your helmet on and off - they are just a whole lot more convenient.

The disadvantage is that you may not be able to hear your speakers while riding unless you have a lot of wind protection on your bike. You also need to consider what helmet you are wearing, a quiet helmet will potentially block out too much sound and you won't hear your speakers. In either of these cases you will need to consider having speakers inside your helmet.

For most riding situations motorcycle speakers mounted on your motorcycle will not be practical, but will certainly be something cool and less usual to show your mates!
