Helmets Visors

Helmets Visors - Tints, Colors & Types

Crash helmets visors typically come in clear and tinted, commonly referred to as 'smoked'.

Increasingly there are a large variety of tints available, including mirrored tints where the rider can look out fine, but outsiders cannot see you through your visor

Clear helmets visors offer the greatest visibility and are the most versatile in all conditions. They are only disadvantaged when riding into direct sunlight, the glare can be particularly bad in a setting or rising sun.

All the other varieties of tints and mirrored finishes will tend to have an advantage over the clear visor in bright sunlight as we mentioned above, but will let you down in lower light levels. You should not ride with a tinted visor when it is dark, your visibility will be impaired increasingly the likelihood of an accident occurring.

Many riders use tints as an additional way of customizing their helmet image - after all, your helmet is one of the most prominent parts of your riding image, second only to your motorcycle.

Motorcycle racers will commonly use tear-off clear visor films over the protective plastic visor of their helmet. A tear off visors advantage is two fold, first it protects your visor from scratches and second it allows for you to easily remove dirt, bugs and water from your visor by simply tearing off the outer layer and disposing.
